This is a simple "take home" solar energy lamp project, based around a dirt cheap solar garden lamp, which suits enthusiastic ten-year-olds (with modest adult help).

All that you need is a solar garden lamp, some tin snips, and some sandpaper. A drill will also be needed, along with a battery, some pliers, and some cardboard.

It's a great little flashlight project for your children, with a bright light, which of course needs to be charged in the sun.
